The Pilates Co. began with a dream, persistence, faith, family, and a lot of love!
In 2014, co-founder Katie Picazo set out to open a pilates studio. When her first opportunity to secure a franchise territory fell through, it could have been the end of the story. Instead, it became the beginning.
Katie shared her disappointment and her dream with her friend Olivia Scira during a playdate with their young sons. Olivia believed in Katie's vision and encouraged her not to give up. Half joking, Katie replied, "I'll do it if you do it with me." The very next day, Olivia called and said, "Let's do it!"
And That is How The Pilates Co. Was Born
Obviously, there was a lot more to it, but you get the idea ;-)
Together, Katie and Olivia opened their first studio in Temecula, creating a welcoming space where people of all ages and fitness levels could discover the life-changing benefits of Pilates. What started as one studio quickly grew into something much bigger than they ever imagined.
After three successful years, they expanded into Menifee in 2017. As their community continued to grow, they opened their Murrieta Reformer Studio in 2023 and are now preparing to launch an exciting new Infrared Heated Mat Pilates Studio. Looking ahead, The Pilates Co. is thrilled to bring its signature Reformer experience to French Valley in late 2026.
The Pilates Co.'s growth has always been fueled by strong relationships and a shared passion for Pilates.
In Riverside, Katie partnered with longtime Pilates colleague and friend Tricia Hill to bring The Pilates Co. to the community. Together, they opened their first Riverside location in 2020, expanded in 2021, and recently celebrated the opening of their third Riverside studio.
In 2024, Katie's cousin, Claire Summers, who had been part of The Pilates Co. family almost since the beginning, fulfilled her dream of bringing the brand to Corona. Her dedication, leadership, and belief in the company's mission have helped sustain The Pilates Co.'s growth throughout the Inland Empire.
Today, The Pilates Co. is more than a collection of studios. It's a community built on friendship, family, empowerment, and a shared belief that movement can change lives. What began as a conversation between two moms has grown into multiple thriving locations, the BEST instructors in the region, and thousands of members who make our studios feel like home.
